How to delete a file on a Mac. There are a few ways to delete a file on a Mac: Drag and drop it on to the the trash icon in the dock.
One sign of a Mac laptop power user is a well-maintained Trash can. Especially when you spend one day working on a document or a datasheet to save it on the Desktop making it easier to find later. That's normal.
You should have one sub-trash can for each account and one for "On My Mac". How do you find the "trash" folder in Window Mail. When moving a file to trash, you are not deleting the file on your mac, you just mark the file as trash on your macOS, which means you can still restore the file from the trash, just like you get thing back for a real trash can. To turly delete files on Trash, you should empty your trash, click and hold or right click on the trashcan icon and click on Empty Trash.
Then all the files in the Trash will be removed from your mac. If the files are still in the Trash folder you just need to drag the file out of the bin directly. If the file is deleted permanently you will need to utilize Time Machine to recover files that deleted. Apply a third-party recovery tool will be the only choice. You can choose to automatically empty the Trash in Finder preferences. Items that you move to the Trash from iCloud Drive are automatically emptied from the Trash after 30 days, regardless of Finder preferences. You can choose to empty the Trash sooner than 30 days. Always: Turn off the warning in the Advanced pane of Finder preferences.
