How does roller coasters work
The catch car follows beneath the passenger train, underneath the track. This provides a much smoother and faster launch than other styles of roller coaster, allowing engineers to create some of the fastest rides on the planet. As soon as the catch car releases the passenger train, it begins to decelerate rapidly to get ready for the next train.
The return cable pulls the catch car back to its starting point, and the motors crank the winch in the opposite direction to get it ready for the next launch.
Sensors attached to the top of the coaster monitor the pressure and relay information back down to the control booth. The system compares the last three runs to previous data, ensuring that the train will make it over the hill and throughout the track regardless of the varying weight of its passengers. It has a top speed of mph with a foot drop and carries passengers around a 1.
Roller coasters are driven almost entirely by basic inertial, gravitational and centripetal forces , all manipulated in the service of a great ride.
Amusement parks keep upping the ante, building faster and more complex roller coasters, but the fundamental principles at work remain basically the same. In this article, we'll examine the principles that keep coaster cars flying around on their tracks. We'll also look at the hardware that keeps everything running, as well as the forces that make the rides so much fun.

Wonderopolis Jun 5, Graham Jun 4, I am gonna add tests and make something like this. Reading is Power. Also I am going to Busch Gardens next month.
Wonderopolis Jun 4, I learned that potential energy is sometimes known as positional energy. I also learned that roller coaster are pulled by chains to the top. Friction wheels control lateral motion movement to either side of the track. A final set of wheels keeps the coaster on the track even if it's inverted. Compressed air brakes stop the car as the ride ends. Wooden or steel coaster: Does it make a difference? Roller coasters can be wooden or steel, and can be looping or nonlooping.
