What is the difference between screamo and emo
Emo is an offshoot of hardcore punk with , as the name implies, often has emotional and introspective lyrics. A lot of older metalheads don't like it because it's completely different from the music they prefer. It's not as heavy musically, it's less stereotypically masculine. It doesn't help that emo got dragged into the pop punk genre, which is another genre older metalheads often despise.
It's just that in the community, there is just so much diversity, people usually put labels to find others like them easier, and to differentiate between each other. Alternative is usually indie music with distortion. Emo belongs to post-hardcore, pop punk and indie rock style while gothic rock is a form of punk rock, glam punk and post punk.
Emo rockers preach release of primal energy with abstract and chaotic sub structures while Goth are recognized by emphasis on darkness in their tone, dress, hair dyes, make up, emotion, etc. As it stands, they basically took the lyrics and set them to new music. Deathcore is heavy for the sake of heavy, and is mostly pretty generic stuff.

Use of electric guitars and drums are common in both of them. But there are many differences between the two types of music. They are:. Metal music is bold and outright whereas Emo music always suffers from personal and emotional conflicts. Since both the music genres originated from Rock music they use the typical instruments like electric guitars, drums and sometimes acoustic guitar as well to create music.
The difference lies in their aesthetic approach. There is a difference in the presentation and style of execution. Although they dress differently and the loudness of their music is different the motivation of both the genres is the same.
